Education in India - Past, Present and Future
Education is the only tool which can help eliminate ignorance and poverty. India being one of the vast country, it becomes very difficult to track and implement the quality of education in all levels of education. Being a technology company in education, we are working together to make personalized education accessible for all. We use technology to capture the interest of student, feedback from tutor and track the progress.

Education is the only tool which can help eliminate ignorance and poverty. India being one of the vast country, it becomes very difficult to track and implement the quality of education in all levels of education. There is big diversity in quality & availability of education across the country. Growing up we have seen people moving from different places in pursuit of better education. Education is one of the primary thing which India is unable to implement for all, for a long time.

Current Status - Think again

The figures from Census India 2011 on state of literacy gives a little hope when compared with 10 years old data.

Unfortunately, when we compare this data with other countries, we have something to bother about. India is not even close to world average in literacy and not much higher from some of our neighbors.

In order to see India as a developed nation, we need India to be an educated nation also, along with infrastructural & economic development. Education plays a very important role in improving nation.

Indian government considers education as a key area where drastic growth and development is required. Government has introduced multiple schemes like Free & compulsory education to all children in the age group of 6-14 years, improving Gender equality and better higher & technical education, towards improving the state of education.

We have progressed with time; however, there are several issues that the Indian education system is grappled with. Corruption and intentions have affected the quality of education and standard of state run government institutions. The government run educational schemes looks good on paper but not on ground. India needs a new slogan in education which is Free & Compulsory Quality Education to all children.

Issues and scope

Here are few problems in India Education system:

  1. Everything is about rote memorization, leading to behavior which encourages cramming and forgetting rather than lifelong learning.
  2. Unskilled and unqualified educators in institutions.
  3. Lack of respect towards profession.
  4. Commercialization of education.
  5. Unequal respect to all subjects.
  6. Age old evaluation system.
  7. Reservation in education.
  8. Government monopoly in education.
  9. Lack of personalized curriculum.
  10. No use of technology in core education system.

What's needed

If Government continues to controls the pattern, qualification and credentialing the institutions, the first few initiatives the government should take are:

  • Free and quality primary & secondary education to all.
  • Primary & Secondary educational institutes be run by government only.
  • Reservation is not a tool fitted for education. Remove reservation from any type of education.
  • Create equal opportunity and jobs for every skill/subjects.

Personalized Education

Personalized curriculum was the education system in ancient India. Child/parents used to request Guru to provide education. On acceptance, the child stays with Guru and helps him in all chores of life along with getting personalized education to his area/skill of interest from his Guru. This helped the child to learn how to lead rest of his life. Multiple invasions and standardization of education later lead people to forget the importance of personalized education. Every child has some specific needs and interest and along with standard education, personalized education is an importance aspect in child’s growth.

Current Tuition system is a form of personalized education but the tuition system to only cope with school curriculum without personal interaction with child is not the system we are talking about.

Being a technology company in education, we are working together to make personalized education accessible for all. We use technology to capture the interest of student, feedback from tutor and track the progress. With a personal motto to quality Education for all, and making young India competent in this quickly changing world, we, A Mentor, will keep working to bring innovation in education and quality education for all.
